摘要长期以来，由于传统翻译理论强调译文应忠实于原文，“译文中的省译”往往予人负面的联想。然而，尽管“省译”被视为“错误”，专业译者仍然“省译”不绝，并且这一策略的运用在很多情况下促进了译作的接受。20世纪80年代以来，在文化研究大潮的冲击下，翻译理论研究也出现了“文化转向”，越来越多的学者提倡将翻译放在一个更广的社会文化语境下研究，提出翻译活动总是在某个语境下发生，总是从某段历史出现并进入到该历史中去。将某个译本语境化是将译入语社会的文化、政治、诗学等各种制约翻译的内外部因素都纳入翻译研究的范畴内加以考察，而不是仅仅只关注原文与译本间的文字转换这一狭隘层面。这也是描写翻译理论所关注的问题。本文采用翻译研究中的描述方法，基于勒菲弗尔系统论，通过分析DavidCopperfield的两个中文译本,即林纾译《块肉余生述》（1908）与林汉达译《大卫·考柏飞》（1953）中的省译实例，并结合译本产生的社会文化背景，探讨译入语社会文化是否及如何影响译者对于省译策略的采用。所得结论如下：1.通过对DavidCopperfield的两个英译本中省译实例的研究，发现在不同的社会文化背景下，不同译者对原作中的不同内容进行省略，除个别译例外，所省原文内容均与译者所处文化背景下的意识形态及诗学要求相悖。可见，译者在译本中选择省译策略会受到译入语社会文化的影响；2.译入语社会中的意识形态，尤其是意识形态中的政治因素主要决定了译者对省译策略的选择。另外，译入语社会的诗学规范也受到相应意识形态的影响，决定译本中某些省译的出现。当国家政权、政治意识形态、诗学等文学系统内外的操控因素高度统一时，对原作内容的删节能更为突出地体现社会文化因素对译者采用省译策略的影响。总之，文学文本中出现省译现象，与其说是一种文本上的改动，不如说是两种不同社会制度，不同文化，不同社会意识形态及相应诗学之间冲突和斗争的见证，而文本中省译的采用又反作用于译入语的社会文化，巩固当时的意识形态与诗学观念。关键词：意识形态，诗学，省译，《大卫·科波菲尔》AbstractTranslationstudies,foralongtime,haveadoptedaprescriptiveapproach,mainlyemphasizingthe“accuratetransference”oflinguisticsigns.Undertheinfluenceofsuchaview,atranslationnormhasformed,promotingthefundamentalvalueofbeing“faithful”intranslationpractice.Accordingly,thetermofomission,whichsuggestsnegativemeanings,isnotencouraged.Nevertheless,manyprofessionaltranslatorsstilldelete(d)words,sentences,sometimesevenmoreconsistentpartsofsourcetexts,andtheirtranslationworkswithomissionsdoanddidreceivegreatpopularity.Sincethelate1980s,influencedby“culturalstudies”,“theculturalturn”hasoccurredintranslationstudiesandmanyscholarshaveadvocatedstudyingtranslationinsocialandculturalcontexts.Theyclaimthattranslationactivitieshavenevertakenplaceinavacuum,instead,theytendtooccurinacertainhistoricalcontextandbecomepartofthathistory.Thecontextualizationoftranslationinvolvesareorientationintranslationstudieswhichbringfirstcultureandthenpoliticsandpowerintothepicture,enablingustostudybothtextualandextratextualconstraintsuponthetranslator,ratherthanconfiningthestudiestothemeretransformationoflinguisticsignsfromsourcetextstotargettexts.Allthisis
