AbstractDuetotheshortageofnaturalsandresourceaswellasdeclineinqualityandriseinprice,manufacturedsandhasfoundanincreasinglywideapplicationinindustrialandcivilengineering,waterresourcesandhydropowerengineeringaswellasroadsandbridgesprojectsetc.soastomeetthegrowingdemandofsandforconstruction.However,studiesofmicrofinesonconcretepropertiesmainlyfocusedonthecontentofmicrofines,whileignoringthedifferencesamongmicrofines.Thusfurtherandmoresystematicresearchontheimpactofcharacteristicsofmicrofinesonperformanceofconcreteisneeded.Itisimportantfortheoreticalresearchandpracticalapplicationtoresearchtheinfluenceofmicrofines’characteristicsonmanufacturedsandconcreteproperties.Bystatisticallyanalyzingmaincharacteristicparametersofmanufacturedsandcollectedfromdifferentareas,bigdifferenceswerefoundamongmanufacturedsandsamplesinshape,grading,claycontent,microfines’characteristicsandcontent,thustheaccuracyandthresholdvalueoftheexistingmethodforcharacterizingtheclaycontentisdiscussed.Thestudysuggestedthatmethylenebluevalue(MBvalue)ofdry-sievingmicrofinestogetherwithpowdercontentofmanufacturedsandcouldn’tmeetwiththeactualclaycontentinthesand,whiletheMBvalueofmanufacturedsandtogetherwithpassrateof2.36mmsieveandMBvalueofwet-sievingmicrofinestogetherwithpowdercontentwerebetterwaystoreflecttheclaycontentinmanufacturedsand.Theimpactsoflithologiccharactersandfinenessofpuremicrofines,togetherwithtypeandcontentofclaymixedinmicrofinesontheMBvalueofmicrofineswerestudied.Itisfoundthat,astopuremicrofines,theincreaseoffinenesshaslittleimpactontheMBvalue,whilethedifferenceinlithologiccharactersofmicrofineaffectedcausedbiggerdifferenceinMBvalue,possiblyduetothedifferencesinmineralcompositionsandstructures.TheMBvalueofmicrofinesincreasedlinearlywiththeclaycontent,whiletheslopeisdeterminedbythetypeofclay.Comparedwithfinenessandlithologiccharacters,claycontenthadmoresignificantimpactonMBvalueofmicrofines.Properiesofmortar,C30andC60manufacturedsandconcretes,includingworkability,compressivestrength,durabil
