AbstractClan Abstract Clan is one of the important features of the traditional Chinese society and it plays an important role in village’S administration．But since 1 980’S，along with the changes and the transition ofChinese society，especially the reform ofChinese rural socioeconomic，the changes of Chinese social structural and system affect the existence and development of clan and clan culture greatly．At the same time，the social functions of clan and clan culture undertake great changes in the actual operation ofthe structure ofChinese rural society． Taking the Yang village in northern Jiangsu province as case，applying the method of field investigation，looking back the researches that have been taken，the thesis analyzes the influences ofclan to the public affairs in such areas that don’t have many clan activities and features．The article analyzes the influences and functions of clan from political， economic and social life of village in such fields as the appointment ofthe Party Secretary，the village committee elections，tax collection land aajustment，family planning and security，education and medical treatment．The conclusions are as follows：The notable clan organization does not appear，but people’S consciousness of clan have gotten strengthen than before；The influences of clan for village public affairs has a negative aspect，and also a positive aspect：The influence ofclan to village public affairs shows differences in different fields，actually speaking，it submits weak tendency in the appointment of the Party Secretary，tax collection，public order，education and medical treatment，but in other fields，people’S consciousness of clan have gotten strengthen．Clans don’t handle the public general affairs of village directly but affect formal organizations of village through indirect way． Key words：village，public affairs，clan， influences 学位论文独创性声明： 学位论文独创性声明： 本人所呈交的学位论文是我个人在导师指导下进行的研究工作 及取得的研究成果。尽我所知，除了文中特别加以标注和致谢的地方 外，论文中不包含其他人已经发表或撰写过的研究成果。与我一同工 作的同事对本研究所做的任何贡献均已在论
