Extraperiosteal Fixation for Treating Fracture of Tibia and Fibula with Contact Limited Plate in Pillar Bridge Type Gao Jichang , Chen Qing he, Jiang H ong he, et al. 211 PLA H osp ital ( Harbin 150080) Abstract!Objecti e In order to prevent the disadvantages of traditional treatment of tibiofibular fracture with plate, such as the damage of nutrient arteries at the fracture end, the destruction of the periosteral blood circulation, and the increase in the chance of infection, dela ed union and nonunion, a new contact limited plate in pillarbridge t pe was designed. Owing to onl the contact of pillars with the bone, there is a space between the plate and bone, thus the pressure on the bone and periosteum can be decreased maximall . Methods This t pe of plate was applied to 10 cases of tibiofibular fracture and 6 cases of tibial shaft fracture for extraperiosteal fixation. Results There was no infection of incision, no dela of healing and no nonunion of fracture in all cases. Conclusion The treatment of tibiofibular frac ture with contact limited plate in pillarbridge t pe was successful.
