Text A CNC program is composed of a series of sequential instructions related to the machining of a part. Each instruction is specified in a format the CNC system can accept, interpret and process. Various controls have a different format, The format to be used in this text is known as the word address. It was originally developed for use with NC tapes and has been retained for CNC programming. The word address refers to a specific register of the control memory.
