PAGE PAGE 2 Research on relation between smooth flow of Yuanzhen in five-zang organs and qi-blood-body fluid in Synopsis of Golden Chamber Ab stra ct As one of the four classics in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Synopsis of Golden Chamber (Jin Kui Yao Lue) represents the highest academic level of medicine before Eastern Han Dynasty. It is the earliest monographon the syndrome differentiation and treatment of miscellaneous diseases existed in China. With appropriate compatibility and advisable modification of formulas, Synopsis of Golden Chamber covers medical theory, therapeutic methods, formulas, and herbal medicines, providing basis for the syndrome differentiation and treatment of TCM. Through reviewing the classic, the thought “If Yuanzhen in five-zang organs circulates well, the body will be healthy” is revealed to be ubiquitous. Qi, blood, and body-fluid are the material basis as well as backdrop for Yuanzhen and its actions in five-zang organs. Therefore, people will be healthy only if qi, blood, essence, and body-fluid are abundant. Objective: The present research explores relation between “smooth flow” of Yuanzhen and “distribution” of qi, blood, and body-fluid to unveil the relation between qi-blood-body-fluid and occurrence of miscellaneous diseases, aiming at offering theoretical support for treatment principle “smooth-flow-oriented ”. Methods: Definition and explanation of “five organs”, “Yuanzhen”, “smooth flow” from practitioners before were summarized to uncover the internal relation between the smooth flow of Yuanzhen and the qi- blood-body fluid. Literature on the theory of qi, blood, and body-fluid and its clinical application was also systematically collected, analyzing their changes in the occurrence and development of diseases and their important role in treatment.
