II II Abstract With the growth of international communication, even though interpretation can meet the demand of increasing instant communication, translation plays the indispensible role of making communication more in depth, width, and length. It is because of its extensive influence and standardized precision in wording. The translation of literal arts work even plays as a pillar in promoting international culture spreading. For doing a case analysis, this interpreter uses the book America Misunderstood as the object of translation. The translator, the writer of this paper, was translating it into Chinese from English. By assessing the translation version, the translator is focused on a number of details and trying to synthesis them into several categories. In doing case translation, the translator try to put the translation skill learned into practice on the one hand, on the other hand to learn valuable practice experience from it. In the translation practice, the translator finds the following issues which are: 1. Background referential knowledge of the text is very important to the translation, which can be obtained from referential materials and also can be obtained from studying the context. 2. Method of annotation. Annotation can be easily neglected by translators because there are lacking in standard and principle of annotation. The translator consults books and journals with relevant theory and summarizes several rules for annotations.3.translation of vocabulary entry. The translation of vocabulary entry shall be in formal, precise and concise style which tests the skills of translators to switch from target language and source language 4.translation of long English sentences. The translator still has problems in translating long English sentences. Thus the translator analyzes various kinds of long sentences and summarize into several principles.
