ii ii ABSTRACT Journalistic English, as a carrier of global political, economical and cultural information, bridges the Chinese and western culture, and the translation of it plays an very important role in the international information and cultural communication. For journalistic English translation, it is far more enough to translate the literal meaning, and also it is quite necessary to put much attention to the cultural connotation, which demands translator be equipped with intercultural awareness. Therefore, when translating, the translator should not only master language features of source language and target language but also be familiar with their cultural connotation, then adopt proper translation strategies to deal with non-equivalence in information as a result of cultural difference. Based on the translation practice of journalistic English materials, applying inductive method and method of documentation, the report summarizes features of journalistic English and discusses translation techniques and strategies from the intercultural perspective with the aim to guide the translation practice and to promote the information and cultural communication. The translation report consists of five parts. The first part gives a brief introduction to the translation task, including the reason of choosing the source of the text and analysis of the text. The second part describes the process of translation, including the preparatory stage, the translation stage and the proofreading stage. The third part discusses theory, introducing the language features of journalistic English and intercultural awareness as well as translation theory applied in the translation process. The fourth part is case analysis. Based on the difficulties in the translation process, typical translation examples are selected and analyzed to discuss the translation techniques and strategies adopted in the translation.
