PAGE PAGE VI 英文提要 Abstract: Shui Hu Zhua n is the first long piece of novel in China, which is written according to the drama, opera and folklore of Song, Jin and Yuan periods, whose ma in. Shui Hu Zhuan not only has a profound mea ning in the development of literature, but also is one of most important materia ls in the study of Modern Chinese. This paper ma inly focus on the gramma r of numbers. It studys the struct ure, classific ation and syntax according to some documents and materia ls. First, it describes the numbers system that are basic numbers, auxilia ry numbers,compound numbers in Shui Hu Zhua n. At the same time, it also describes four important numbers, which are cardinal numbers, ordina l numbers, approxima te numbers and imaginarynumbers. There is no great change in the numbers in all ages. So the funct ions of the numbers in Shui Hu Zhuan are ma inly represented in the usage of the auxilia ry numbers and the specia l numbers. The sepica l numbers are ma inly represented b y“ lia ng”, “ ji ”, “shu” and “ xuduo”. “Lia ng” which can not combine with other numbers expresses the double things in the old Chinese. But in Shui Hu Zhua n, it has some sepica l usages. “Ji” in the old Chinese was used in enquiring the quantity and amount. There is no limit in the amount and the quantity when enquire. In the Shui Hu Zhua n, “ji ” still holds the usage in the old Chinese, but it expands other usages. It can exprese some other numbers and can also combine with other numbers. In the morder n Chinese, “ji ” has no usage of the old Chinese,but inher its the new usages expanding in the morder n Chinese. The usage of the “shu” also holds some usage in the old Chinese. In this paper, the writer regards that the “shu” expresss the number under ten, namely one to nine. Not by two to nine by Lv Shuxiang. “Xuduo” has its mea ning the same as before.
