Urban mountain greenways play an indispensable role for the sustainable development of cities ecology. As for the present, the researches on the greenway in our country lack the exploration of the greenways located in mountains. There are numerous mountains in our country, the constructions of urban greenways should be compatible with the mountain environment, also need to combine elements of the mountain space to from a distinctive mountain greenway. So this thesis mainly explores the planning and design of urban mountain greenways through both the theoretical and practical research methods. In terms of theoretical research, this artical demonstrated the definition of the mountain greenway, distinguished the different levels of mountain greenways, and summarized six characteristics of urban mountain greenways. Then we concluded the main types of urban mountain greenways from the aspects of from, space and function, carried on the qualitative analysis of scale, boundary and land characteristics of urban mountain greenways, and demonstrated the structures of urban mountain greenways through examples. At last we concluded the ecological function, traffic function, recreational function and protection function of urban mountain greenways, and we mainly studied the traffic classification and features of urban mountain greenways. In practice research, we took Su Ma Dang resort as an example of the mountain greenway, and briefly demonstrated the layout planning and achievement contents of Su Ma Dang mountain greenway from four aspects: land uses, layout structure, function partition and partition description.
