The fingerprint enhancement algorithms have been studied and programmed in the third chapter. Fingerprint enhancement has been the hotspot and difficult problem of the fingerprint identification field. After studied histogram equalization and Gabor filter these two traditional fingerprint image enhancement algorithms, the latter algorithm was improved. From the experimental results can be seen that the improved algorithm in processing fingerprint image has obtained good result. The fingerprint image binarization algorithm was deeply study in the forth chapter. At first introduces direction map and gray threshold these two traditional algorithms, then compares and analyzes advantages and disadvantages of them. By digital image processing knowledge we can know that fingerprint image is also of the texture image, inspired that the binarization algorithm based on the texture feature was presented. From the experimental results can see that this algorithm in processing fingerprint image gets better than the previous algorithms. The fingerprint image thinning and feature extraction algorithms have been studied and programmed in the fifth chapter. First introduces the fast thinning, improved OPTA, improved thinning algorithms, then the fingerprint image’s feature extraction and how to eliminate the false and retain the true feature point algorithms also have been introduced. The sixth chapter is a summary of the full text and the prospect of the future work.
