Formation of this word: in+conceive+able inconceivable Please explain the formation of the following words. unthinkable incredible unbelievable About the author: William Sidney Porter, O. Henry was his pen name (pseudonym). Many of his stories tell about the lives of poor people in New York, as well as in other places. It is said that O. Henry imitated De Maupassant as a model. There is much in common between these two writers. Both are gifted with a clear style and a keen observation of details, and both write about people in the poorer walks of life. But O. Henry’s works abound in good-natured humor. About his work: His stories are usually short. The plots are exceedingly clever and interesting, humor abounds, and the end is always surprising. Often there are two endings: first an unexpected endings, then another, which is quite a different one and a still better surprise. Many of his stories contain a great deal of slang and colloquial expressions, that make them hard to be understood by people outside of American, which is called local color, to make the stories fit in with the characters and scenes described. O. Henry’s own speech, both spoken and written was always chaste and clear. Nearly every story he writes grips the attention and interest from the beginning, and all are wholesome reading.
