Investigation and Study on The Resources and Landscape Application of Colorful Plants in Cangzhou city Professional: Landscape Architecture Specialty Specialty: Guo Chunsheng Supervisor: Zhang Tao(Professor) Abstract The people’s demands on living environment become higher with the development of society and the traditional forms and plants of landscape are unable to meet the aesthetic needs of the people, while colorful plants are getting popular due to composition diversity and different colors has become the new darling of current urban greening with broad prospects for development. The applications of colorful plants in have developed rapidly in Cangzhou since recent years, but there are some problems such as poor in species or improper configuration, etc; this paper carried out a research on germplasm and landscape application of colorful plants in urban green area of Cangzhou and provided summary analysis as well as solutions of existing problems, which provided references to the development of colorful plants and landscape greening construction of Baoding and surrounding area or even those of Hebei Province. This paper investigated the status including species, adaptability, application methods and the match with other landscape elements of colorful plants in green areas of main roads, squares, parks residential areas, and affiliated areas in Baoding through field research with photographs, records and samples, and the results were as follows: Color leaf plant species in Cangzhou: the green areas in Baoding had colorful plants of 33 species of 45 genera of 89 families, including 65 arbors accounting for 73.03%, 16 shrubs accounting for 17.98%, 3 vines accounting for 3.37%, 5 herbs accounting for 5.62%; 3 evergreen colorful plants accounting for 3.37 %, 86 deciduous colorful plants accounting for 96.63%; 16 spring colorful plants accounting for 17.98%, 63 autumn colorful plants accounting for 70.79%, 17 ever-colorful plants accounting for 19.10%;85 monochrom
