RESEARCH AND DESIGN OF MES SYSTEM FOR POWER GENERATION EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURING ABSTRACT The planning system used by management has been greatly challenged by the market changes. Adaptation becomes increasingly difficult. Therefore, to increase the adaptability of production planning and information transfer, the timeliness and accuracy, becomes an important subject. This article is developed by analyzing the needs of PG group and other similar organizations. The article points out MES necessity by analyzing the basic principles of MES and its current development status locally and globally, combining the features of China manufacturing industries, and probing the practical problems. This article also proposes solutions to situation of complex production arrangement, difficult information collection, and low feasibility of integration. Finally, the article analyses MES system structure by deliberating major modules of MES, and considering features of MES software and the business needs of PG group. It finally clarifies the methodology of realizing MES system functions and implementations in subsidiaries by integrating ERP/SAP system with J2EE as developing platform and Oracle as database. The achievement and significance of the research is that the MES system can meet the needs of production scheduling, data acquisition, product cost analysis etc. for power generation equipment manufacturing. Also it provides reference to the study and practice in the development and integration of MES system, especially the integration of SAP system.
