AbstractHuizhou Abstract Huizhou Merchants were the shining star of the Chinese ancient commerce world，dominating in wide business area，countless capital and SO on，during the Ming and Qing Dynasty．However,although Huizhou Merchants’flourish brought great efrect to Chinese ancient society,they declined quicklY soon after the elapse of the Qing Dynasty．Most scholars hold the points that the reasons for what induced the Huizhou Merchants’ downfall were multiform．I agree with them．however,I believe it iS the change of Geographic Environment that played a much more important role． Seeing from the view of the History and Geography,that’s to say, according to the Geographic Environment of the time．Huizhou Merchants not only had the advantage of the Changiiang River Delta Area．were able to go much more place instead of limiting into the Huizhou area．but also had the support of the local government in selling salts，therefore they became rich and famous in a short time，and the Geographic Environment was alSO the kev reason that lead to the comedown of the Huizhou Merchants．Wb all know that Geographic Environment include both Natural Environment and human geography． Geographic Environment played a much more important role in the ancient times than it iS today．Geographic Environment iS one of the moSt important factors for human beings’survival．and it has a strong power both in people’S produce and evolution． Hence，only make clear the strong power of the Geographic Environment and the great breakage that human beings can be done to the Geographic Environment．Can we realize that when we push our lOCal area’s economy into a high level and design the development of tlle society,we should consult the experience and lessons of history,and pay much attention to the compositions，which means we should correspond both Geographic Environment and human．insure the sustainable development in economy and society． From the history of the Huizhou Merchants’rise，flourish and downf．a
