Abstract Urban garden greenbelt is an important part of ecosystem，which plays all important role in sustainable development and maintenance of a virtuous cycle of urban ecosystem．Understanding the features of urban garden greenbelt pests and to exploring a comprehensive treatment has great significance which not only can prevent the garden pest，but also protect the environment．For this reason．tlle author investigated systematically both the pest species on urban garden plants from 2007 to 2009 in Huai’an and the biology and ecology characteristics of some important garden pests， and the control techniques have also been studied．The main results were summarized as follows： 1、The pest species of important garden plants were investigated in the greenbelts of major city streets，parks，exclusive green space in Huai’an from the year 2007 to 2009．More than 2,000 numbers of the gardens pests were collected in Huai’an，and a total of 365 species of insects were identified，belonging to 1 0 orders and 92 families． 2、The survey of the overwintering adult of Corythucha ciliate(Say)in 1 3 cities of Jiangsu province showed that Corythucha ciliate(Say)have invaded 6 cities including Nanjing，Zhenjiang，Yangzhou，Huai’an，Xuzhou and Lianyungang，among which serious occurrence Was found in Nanj ing，Huai’an and Xuzhou．Results also showed that the spatial distribution pattern of the overwintering adults of Corythucha ciliate (Say)belonged to aggregating distribution．and the basic constituent of distribution was individual group． 3、The adults and nymphs spatial distribution patterns of Ceroplastes rubens Maskell in Huai’an were mensurated by aggregation parameters criterion，the regression model analysis and theoretical sampling．The results showed that the spatial distribution pattern of the nymphs and female adults belonged to aggregating distribution， constituent of distribution Was individual group，and population dencities have effect on the spatial distribution pattern． 4、Studies have sh
