The plant secondary compounds mainly are p henolics , terp enoids and nitrogencontaining compounds. The defense efficiency of plant to mammalian herbivores is different wit h t he typ es and content of secondary compounds in plant . Secondary compounds inhibited t he foraging of mammalian herbivores by affecting t he intake , digestion , metabolites and repro duction of animal . It is t he main trends to study t he mode of coevolution of plant and animals mediated by plant sec ondary compounds.
