Thesis of Chongqing University 2 Description of the translation process 2 Description of the translation process The translation process can be divided into three stages: Preparations before the translation, the translation process, after the translation. 2.1 Preparations before the translation Before the translation, the author reads some literatures and books on the translation of technology news to have some knowledge about the text features of technology news and what methods are employed by other people. In addition, the author also uses English-Chinese Dictionary and the Oxford Dictionary. Bing, an e-dictionary produced by the tech giant Google, is also a commonly used tool, as it can provide sentences with web links. Dki is also useful, as it can render the author how the vocabulary is used in the academic circle. Moreover, the author also reads news from famous technology websites like Engadget, technology section of Netease to enhance sensibility to words and expressions in technology news. 2.2 The translation process When the translation task is assigned, the author reads the whole passages carefully to catch the main idea of the technology new s. For unfamiliar vocabulary, the author would consult the dictionary first. If the interpretation is not satisfying, the author would put the key word into Google to find some parallel texts or background information for reference from famous websites. Most of the time, the adequacy of translations have been judged on the basis of the correspondence of vocabulary and grammar.
