Forming Forming Mechanism and Distribution Characteristics of Lithologic Pools of the Palaeogene in Boxing Sag Abstract The formation and distribution of lithologic pools of Palaeogene in the Boxing sag were studied by adopting high·resolution sequence stratigraphy,petroleum system and pool—forming dynamics．The thesis discusses the forming mechanics and models of the subtle lithologic pools，sums up its distribution regularity and controlling factors． For different types of sand—body,the distribution forecast models were built up． By means of large amounts of research work，the three—grade sequence stratigraphic framework is established．Two middle—time and seven short-time base—level cycles ale recognized in the upper E2s4 sequence．Four long-time and eight middle—time base—level cycles are identified in the E2s3一E2s2’sequence．Meanwhile，we have founded the origin models of beach—dam，delta front and slip—turbidite．Based on high—resolution sequence stratigraphy,the results indicate that bar and beach sand are developed respectively in the rising and decline period of the short··time base·-level cycles．while turbidite fans and delta front can be formed separately during the rising and decline period ofthe middle_time base—level cycles． On the basis of studies about the abnormal stratigraphic pressure and pool—forming mechanics，we think that the effective source rocks of Boxing sag are characteristic of multiple hydrocarbon expulsion．It includes three types of hydrocarbon expulsion which by micro-fractures，differential breakthrough pressure and fault．Each one is characterized by dynamics characteristics and mechanics．Only when the expulsion and accumulation are coupled，can the lithologic pool be formed． In general。the forming of lithologic pools in Boxing sag is controlled by four conditions．But different types of pools，its mainly controlling factors are not the same． Pool—forming of beach-dam is controlled by stratigraphic pressure and three overlaid belts which are re
