The epithelial cells of the crop a d the flat part of the stomach show the ultrastructural features of absorptive cells : microvilli, sig s of e docytosis, occurre ce of seco dary lysosomes a d storage of reserve materials ( glycoge a d lipid) . These features i dicate that absorptio of e ergyrich substa ces ca occur i the crop a d the stomach. The fold part of the stomach is li ed by ciliated cells which are i volved i sorti g a d tra sport of food particles. The i traepithial euro s were observed i the stomach. The epithelial cells of the crop a d the stomach show protei ase a d o specific esterase activity by histochemical tests, a d show activity of three or four polysaccharide e zymes by test in vitro .
