1 .Knowledge aims:
(1)The students can listen speak read and write the five words :bigger smaller stronger thinner and heavier.
The students can use the above comparative degree of adjectives to describe character differences.
The students can grasp the rules of comparative degree of adjectives .
Ability aims:
(1)To develop the students’ abilities of listening ,speaking ,reading and writing .
(2)The students can work in pairs and teams ,and they can learn English happily.

The students can develop good eating habits and keep healthy bodies.

Part 5 Teaching steps
Step 1 Warm up
Guide the students to review the knowledge of talking about their heights. The teacher and the students practice the following dialogues:
T: How tall are you ? S1: I’m ___ metres.
T:Oh ,I’m ___ taller /shorter than you.
Then ask other students the same question, and use He / She is ___ centimetres taller /shorter than him/ her .
Step 2 Presentation
Let’s learn
1 .Show two pairs of shoes ,one is big and the other is small. Let students compare them, then teach smaller and bigger .Students look at the two words ,find out how to add —er .
2 .Ask a strong student to come to the front . I can say he is strong . Now I show a picture of a coach , at this time teach stronger . The coach is stronger . The students can practice in pairs .
3 .Show two pictures , teach the new words: thinner and heavier .
4 .The students watch the five words on the Bb, and find the rules to add –er .
5. T : I’m 1.55 metres .I’m 45 kilograms. (Ask a student) How tall are you ?
