Methods: In order to construct the hospice care model in general hospitals, we redefined the organizational structure and their responsibilities, provided a training program on hospice care knowledge, developed a work system, established entry conditions, principles, service contents and service procedure, and monitored quality of care. Results: After implemented the hospice care model, more than 80% of patients needs were met, their family members satisfaction rate was 91.5%, and the differences were statistically significant (P0.05). The professional knowledge, service awareness, communication skills, team spirit and scientific research abilities of the hospice team members were higher than before (P0.05).
