I. Teaching aims:
1. Knowledge and Skills:
a. Learn to ask for and give directions (方位) on the street.
b. New words about some places
c. Learn the sentence pattern:
Is there a/an…? Yes, there is. / No, there isn’t.
2. Emotional attitude and Values
a. Let students learn about places we often use in life, and know their functions.
b. Cultivate the students’ competitive cooperation through competition and group work.
c. To make Ss get happiness by giving help to others.
II. Teaching important and difficult points:
1. Teaching important points:
a. Words about places: post office, police, police station, hotel, restaurant, bank, hospital, street, pay phone, park and so on.
b. Sentence about how to ask and answer questions about places:
Is there a/an…? Yes, there is. / No, there isn’t.
2. Teaching Difficult Points:
How to ask and answer questions about places correctly.
III. Teaching Methods:
Presentation, listening, speaking, communication, cooperation learning method and task-based teaching method.
IV. Teaching Aids:
Blackboard, chalk, Multimedia, a postcard
V. Teaching procedures:
Step1. Greetings and Lead-in
Show a postcard to Ss and tell them: I want to post the card but I can’t find the post
Step2. Presentation
1. Show some pictures to teach the new words.
2. Ask Ss to read them loudly and try to remember them, then do a matching exercise.
Step3. Guidance
1. Finish 1a.
a. Ask one student to write his/her answers, then check.
b. Do some exercises to learn the sentence pattern “There be”
2. Finish 1b.
a. Listen to the tape, and circle the places you hear in 1a. Then check the answers.
b. Listen again and fill in the blanks.
1). A: Is there a restaurant ____ Bridge Street?
B: Yes, _____ _____.
2). A: Is there a post office _____ here?
B: Um, yes, there is. Theres one____Long Street.
3). A: Is there a __________on Center Str
