It not only promises significance in environmental monitoring, industrial control and medical care, but also has great potential practical value in logistics transportation, emergency rescue and disaster relief. So the design and Implementation of environmental temperature monitoring system based on WSN has both substantial practical value and academic value. With the background of environmental temperature monitoring system based on WSN, this paper analyzed its requirement for the protocols of WSN in detail. I select the proper MAC protocol and time synchronization protocol through comparative analyses. This paper mainly discussed route protocols already existing, and proposed a proper route protocol for environmental monitoring system with the basis of direction diffusion route protocol by applying the concept of gradient and combining with the traditional tree-route. After that I gave the topology simulation of this route protocol using GTK program, and realized route protocol, MAC protocol and time synchronization protocol using TinyOS embedded operate system. At last, I designed and implemented the PC monitoring and management software according to requirements of the system which can show real-time temperature and humidity curves and network topology. The software connects to a database supported by MySQL which can store and query the data obtained from monitoring system. The result of test and verification to the route protocol by real motes has proved that the proposed protocol fits the monitoring system well and wireless sensor nodes that can’t provide the capability of complex calculation and huge memory with limited energy can set up network, transfer data and maintains it via very simple and easy ways.
