Teaching Procedures:
ⅠWarming up
To teach and get the students to chant.
ⅡLead- in
1. Show the students some pictures and get them to describe the persons in pairs, using the following conversation:
—What does he /she look like?
—He/She is … He/She has…
2. Show the students some other pictures and get them to describe the persons, using the words in the text.
Ⅲ Listening
1. Get the Ss to listen to the tape twice, then fill in the chart.
2. Check the answer.
Ⅳ Guessing game
Get some students to describe someone in the class, ask another student whose eyes are covered to guess who it is.
Ⅴ Reading
1. Look at the pictures of 2b and say what the three people look like.
2. Fast reading:
Read the article and find the real criminal.
3. Careful reading:
Read the article again and find the words describing what the three people look like in the article.
Let some Ss read out the sentences.
Work on 2c:
Ⅵ Writing
Get the Ss to choose one of the actors/athletes on the screen and describe him or her.
Ⅶ Groupwork
Get the Ss to work in groups, to make their conversations according to the teacher’s task.
Homework:
1. Copy the new words.
2. Describe one of the classmates or teachers.
