Research of Campus Landscape Design Based on Symbiosis Thought ABSTRACT This thesis for the first time leads the basic idea of symbiosis into the field of landscape design of university campuses, and attempts to innovatively interpret the basic concept of sustainable campus landscape from the view of symbiosis. This thesis analyzes the core of symbiosis research: application of disheartened space and metabolism in campus landscape design. This thesis puts forward detailed and effective campus landscape design strategies. It mainly covers the following core contents: Order of the two concepts: integrity and components in symbiosis. The symbiosis relation between integrity, component an d landscape environment is mainly embodied in unification of the whole segment of the overall layout of campus landscape design and the partial segment of the design style, manner, pattern, and concept of partial landscape design. Condition of symbiosis: rehabilitation of “the middle field” and “road”. “the middle field” in campus landscape design refers to atmosphere in which students live, communicate and space is created in campus landscape. According to the order relation between integrity and parts discussed formerly, it can be expressed in the campus square, green land, and courtyard. As the component of symbiosis, idea expresses more about building of space of campus in which students are the main role. Sense of beauty and “theory of the middl e sacred field”, i.e. ambiguitys of “Rikyu Gray” in culture. Ambiguity of symbiosis in campus landscape refers to: instructional value of campus landscape design and commemorative quality of campus landscape；and exchanges symbiosis of subjects in “scared fiel d” of campus, and in communication between sense and sensibility. “Theory of life”, i.e.“metabolism” used in campus landscape.
