When the oil tube working underground, on one hand, it is deformed by alternating stress, on the other hand, it is eroded by chemical substances. So the oil tubes are changed frequently. Often the changed oil tubes are disposed as waste material, resulting in massive waste of resources. This paper is to solve this problem, by forging the waste oil tube into oil tube coupling, we reutilized the waste material, saved raw materials and made tremendous economic benefits. Coupling is the pipeline connecting part, should possess of high connecting intensity. By forging the waste oil tube into pipeline coupling, its mechanical properties are expected to reach or exceed the coupling direct machining of the collar. But the upsetting on the end of the waste oil tube is an urgent puzzling problem because of its large diameter and big upsetting ratio, complex deformation and occurrence of every kind of buckling during the upsetting process. The second difficulty is the broken of the mandrel because of the mandrel is often enclasped by the forging coupling. This article makes a profound investigation about the upsetting deformation on the end of the oil tube with a large diameter which can be seen as a thin-walled tube with experimental and theoretical study. Such work has been accomplished in this article: At first, a theoretical study about the deformation law of the upsetting has been made, some kinds of deformation modes during the upsetting and the influencing factors have been induced. The velocity field of the oil tube upsetting has been established, the key processing parameters of the coupling upsetting deformation are analyzed.
