AbstractEmpathy Abstract Empathy will bring good results，including pro—social behaviors，less aggressive behaviors，social skills，relationship satisfaction，less bias and resolution of conflicts through peaceful means etc．Family intimacy refers to the emotional connection among family members，which plays a pretty important role in personal growth，life and work．This study first uses a questionnaire survey to understand drug addicts’empathy ability and family intimacy,then intervenes in their empathy ability and family intimacy by means of group counseling in order to provide valuable enlightenment and assistance for the current serious situation of drug treatment and further improve the efficiency of drug treatment． Objective：Study 1 aims at understanding the empathy ability and the basic conditions of family intimacy of drug addicts as well as the differences between drug addicts and normal population；study 2 aims at investigating the effects of empathy training on drug addicts’empathy ability and family intimacy to offer reference experience for future rehabilitation work． Methods：Study 1 adopted questionnaire method and gave out 200 copies about empathy scale and family intimacy and adaptability scale in a drug rehabilitation center in Hunan province．In accordance with the actual III 万方数据 conditions conditions and convenient principles，study 2 had a three—month empathy training on 40 drug addicts extracted from a drug rehabilitation center in Hunan province and the 20 people of experimental group；expect for the 20 people of control group without intervention，others’life，learning and educational activities were normal．The pretest-posttest design used ‘‘empathy scale’’，‘‘family intimacy and adaptability scale’’before and after intervention to measure experimental group and control group．After intervention，experimental group and control group were measured again． Results：There are obvious differences in the score of sectional demographic variables of drug addi
