Results show that online political news use is not a significant predictor of individual-level political opinion expression when the factors of demographical backgrounds, political antecedents, and traditional media use are controlled. Internal political efficacy is found to interact with online political news use to shape these two forms of political participation. Interaction effects suggest that the relationship between online political news use and campaign participation is more negative among people with higher internal political efficacy, while the relationship between online political news use and willingness to vote is less negative among this group of people.
