It’s the fourth period of this unit and it’s a reading class. Therefore, it plays a very important role in developing the students’ integrate language skills and improving the reading skill. The topic of the text is about robot. By setting some activities of pre- reading ,while-reading, post- reading and expansion , students will understand the origin and the development of robots, at the same time ,it has a great influence on the development human life ,then turn information in the text into dialogue and guide the students to concern about life, look forward to the future, advocate the spirit of science, explore the future, so as to carry out the appropriate emotional education to students then Help students to establish lofty ideals and enhance the spirit of scientific exploration. 2. Requirements in National English Curriculum Standard about reading of Grade 8: (1)Read the text fluently and smoothly. (2) Understand the sequence of events and the behavior of people in the easy reading materials. (3) Be able to find some of the relevant information from a simple article and understand the main idea of the passage. (4) Be able to guess the meanings of new words in the context. (5) Be able to understand and interpret the information provided by the chart. (6) Be able to read some personal letters and simple expository style materials etc.. (7) Be able to use English-Chinese dictionaries and other tools to help in the reading comprehension. (8) The amount of words reading in extracurricular reading should be accumulated to more than 100 thousand. 2.Teaching aims : (1)Knowledge objects: Learn and master the key words and the target language.
