It’s a reading passage about making resolutions. Students should learn to talk about future intentions, make new year’s resolution. They’ll also get some moral education: Resolution is a kind of promise that you make to yourself. Nothing is impossible to a willing heart and well begun is half done. That is to say, it’s important to make a resolution. (三) Teaching aims and demands. 1.Knowledge objects (1)Key words and phrases: question, meaning, discuss, promise, have to do with, take up… (2)Use task-based teaching method and other games to make students have a better understanding of the passage. (3)Get students to use the target language to talk about their resolutions 2. Ability objects (1)Train students’ abilities of reading, speaking and writing. (2)Learn how to talk about resolutions using their own words. 3. Moral objects (1) Enable students to understand that it’s necessary and important to make a resolution at the beginning of the year.
