1. What were you doing at eight last night? I was taking a shower.
2. What was she doing at the time of the rainstorm?
She was doing her homework.
3. What was he doing when the rainstorm came?
He was reading in the library when the rainstorm came.
4. What was Ben doing when it began to rain heavily?
When it began to rain, Ben was helping his mom make dinner.
语法:过去进行时构成和用法。教学过程
Step1 Lead-in
What is she doing? She is playing pongpong/watching Tv.
What are they doing?They are playing basketball.
What were you doing at ten o’clock yesterday morning? I was playing basketball with my friends.
Step 2过去进行时(Past ProgressiveTense)
1.定义:表示在过去某一时刻或某一段时间正在进行的动作。这一特定的时间除有上下文暗示以外,一般用时间状语来表示。例如:
A:What were you doing at eight last night?
B:I was taking a shower.
2.构成
过去进行时由“was / were +动词-ing”构成,表示在过去某一时刻或某一段时间正在进行的动作。常与过去进行时连用的时间状语有at eight / nine ... (o’clock) yesterday morning, at that time,from eight to ten yesterday morning等。
如: Alice was doing her homework at six yesterday evening.
Mike and his brother were playing soccer from three to four yesterday afternoon.
Step3 Warming up
Yesterday, there was a rainstorm. Where were they ?What were they doing when the rainstorm came?
Here are some reports.
For example:
A: Where were you when the rainstorm came?
B: I was in the library.
A: What were you doing when the rainstorm came?
B: I was waiting for the bus at the bus stop.
Work on 1a. Where were the people at the time of the rainstorm? Match the statements with the people in the picture.
