When different nations have different ethnic emotions on the same thing, the language they used will be not equivalent in commendatory and derogatory terms. This article mainly analyzes several typical words which are not equivalent in commendatory and derogatory terms. 关键词：语言；态度；褒义；贬义；对等 Keywords: language, attitude, commendatory term, derogatory term, equivalence Introduction On the analysis of the linguistics differences between China and western countries, inevitably, the culture of the two countries will be involved. Language is a special component of a certain culture. It is not only a part of culture but also the carrier and container of culture, which can be used to reflect the culture. Because peoples knowledge, experience, living custom, behavior model can be described and analyzed by language. And culture can exist in the form of substance; these substances reflect the human beings wisdom, skills, cooperation and labor. However, the production of these substances can’t be made without language. So, the culture and language are inseparable. In addition, the use of commendatory terms and derogatory terms is not decided by the meaning itself, but by peoples attitudes and value orientation towards some things, when different nations have different ethnic emotions on the same thing, the language they used will be not equivalent in commendatory and derogatory terms.
