1. Dialogue: Ss make a survey on their own habits.
(purpose: Collect Ss’ own ideas about reading habits)
Ss go through the text about Millie’s reading habits and fill in the form.

How reading helps her
Para 1: Time spent on books and her favourite books
Para 2: Where to get books/Who to share books with
Para 3: How books can help
Students read the passage and work out the useful expressions and transitions.
Step 3 While writing
Show the students the criteria of writing.
Ss write reports on their own reading habits according to three key points.
Step 4 Post- writing
The teacher evaluates some students’ articles as revising models according to the criteria.
Self-editing: Ss revise their own articles according to the given criteria.
Peer-editing: Ss exchange the article with partner and give advice.
4. Group-editing: Ss (4 in a group) discuss their articles and choose the best one to share in class.
Encourage students’ to talk about this topic actively.
Make sure they can work out the structure of the text.
Ask them to bring in more phrases and transitions by brainstorming.
Choosing students’ writing is important while they are writing. Make sure to choose the representative articles.
