In view of t he growing social demand , t he Council of Europ e ’s Congress of Local and Regional Au t horities (CL RA E) drew up t he Europ ean Landscap e Convention to promote landscap e protection , management and planning , and to organize Europ ean co - op eration on landscap e issues in Europ e . This p ap er summarizes t he prop erties , origins , structure and content of t he convention , and discuss es t he definitions on landscap e and landscap e policy to which t he convention refers. Moreover , t his p ap er sums up and concludes t he p ersp ective of landscap e ecology in Europ e .
