It is introduced to simplify thecontextmodeling and the subsequentarithmetic coding process. In thispaper, we proposea novel binarization scheme for arithmetic coding. Based on the observation thatthenumbersofnonzero coefficients inneighboring blocksarehighly correlated, the numberofnonzero coefficientsofablock isspecifically binarized according to thenumbers ofnonzero coefficientsof its top and leftneighbors. In addition, anovelmapping rule isdesigned tomapa syntax element to a codenumber, according to the observed featuresofprobabilitydistribution. Experimentalresultsshow thatcompared to the conventionalscheme, this scheme can reduce decoding complexitywith comparable coding efficiency.
