A Ｒeview on Chinese Buddhist Women in the Past Thirty Years

Abstract :Buddhist women are considered as one of the important powers in Chinese Buddhism de-
velopment． In this paper ，we summarize reseach results of Buddhist women in the past thirty years ，
which can be divided into three main themes :firstly ，analyzing the Buddhism attitude towards women
according to classics and texts ;secondly ，exploring the historical status of women in Chinese Bud-
dhism and the influence of Chinese Buddhism on them ;thirdly ，investigating the survival reality and
the belief condition of contemporary Buddhist women． The paper has already combed the existing re-
search results ，and tries to explore its developing direction ，in order to promote further research on
this topic．
