ABSTRACT Gentiana straminea Maxim. the authentic bulk herbs of Qinghai Province is the main medicine plant called Gentiana macrophylla Pall. by Chinese doctors and called “jieji” by Tibetan doctors.Chinese doctors are widely using root of Gentiana straminea Maxim. as the officinal part,but tibetan doctors are used to take the whole plant instead.Whether Chinese doctors or tibetan doctors confirmed that Gentiana straminea Maxim. could cure diseases of Rheumatoid arthritis,Fever caused by Pulmonary disease,Jaundice,Rash,Edema,Hard to Excretion e tal.In recent years,over excavation not only caused resource destruction of Gentiana straminea Maxim.,but also extremely threaten the fragile balance of ecological environment.In order to raise the utilization of resources and protect the fragile ecological evironment of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,we have deeply studied the aerial part of Gentiana straminea Maxim. and hope to find the answers of collaborative development between resource and balance of environment. Compared on chemical constituents between aerial parts and underground parts of Gentiana straminea Maxim.,we preliminary find the active component of iridoid glycosides such as Gentiopicroside confirmed in underground parts is also contained in aerial parts,and we finally get QJ20 whose main active component is iridoid glycosides in the aerial parts of Gentiana straminea Maxim.Then,we further confirmed QJ20 in aerial parts is the officinal part of analgesic and diminish inflammation by pharmacological experiments. By separation and purification of the active components，four compounds were aquired and confirmed with the methods of TLC and HPLC what were named as (1) Swertiamarin,(2) Gentiopicroside,(3) Sweorside,(4) Isoorientin.
