华中科技大学硕士学位论文 华 中 科 技 大 学 硕 士 学 位 论 文 II II Abstract With the rapid development of Chinas economy, Chinese language and culture have received the attention of more and more groups that all over the world, and gradually become a trend. Michigan, USA, for example, more and more school districts and schools began to carry out Chinese programs and courses; Universities and colleges have Teacher certification program in Chinese; students can get college credit by having Chinese courses; there are 4 Confucius Institutes and several Confucius classrooms in Michigan State. Now, Chinese has become a trend from early childhood education to adult professional education,meanwhile, many supporting Supplements also need to make a corresponding increase change, especially the localization of teaching materials must be given adequate attention. In order to let non-native Chinese learners to get a better understanding of Chinese language and culture, we need to rapidly improve the localization degree of our Chinese domestic text books. According to the feedback received from the majority of Chinese teachers in Michigan, USA, they are not satisfied with the current Chinese text books. A lot of Chinese teachers complaining there is no suitable textbooks for their students. In this paper, we conducted a questionnaire survey of the teachers and students in 17 schools (Elementary to High schools). The design of this questionnaire includes QA questions, one-choice questions, multiple-choice questions and sorting questions, it follows the principles of simple, courteous, accurate, exhaustive and so on. This survey not only obtains the views of those Chinese language teachers who have better understands of the needs of teaching materials, but also investigates the study needs of the Chinese learners from elementary schools to high schools.
