AB AB STRACT vdfhnn At the end of the 1 8th century,romantic music was initiated． Like other similar arts，the early romantic music originates from the ideas of Liberty and Democracy in“the age of enlightenment¨in Europe，and it is about 1 0 years later than romantic literature．Actually,the rise of Romanticism in art firstly appears in literature in the 1 8th century when the artists showed their grand passion for their own subjective feelings， their love of nature，and their fantasies about the future．In their works，all of their personal feelings，talents and tastes are completely shown unrestrictedly．Additionally,there Was a new change in ideology,and the romantic thoughts and styles formed and developed in their works．For instance，their works promote program music，and emphasize the expression of personal feelings as well as the combination of music with painting，poetry,comedy and other arts．Moreover,their works take the autobiographical form with fantasy．These artists like to describe nature because it iS full of calm without war conflicts，which iS the ideal state．In terms of the technique of expression and artistic form,they like to use exaggeration very much,and focus on feeling and color,with a lot of subjective fantasy factors． A great deal of research has been done on the works of many romantic masters such as Schubert，Brahms，Schumann,Elgar， II Mendelssohn,Chopin Mendelssohn,Chopin and Liszt at home and abroad．However,most of these research works only focus on the masters’symphony and piano pieces．Differently,this paper will proceed from Elgar’S Snow”， Schubert’S¨Nature God¨，and Brahms’S¨unknown song”，and then analyze the female choruses in the romantic period．All of the three choruses have used the typical romantic technique of expression．And we hope to provide useful theoretic reference for the teaching and theoretical studies of the female choruses in the same period through the analys is of the three choruses． Keywords：Romantic Period，Elgar，Brahms，Schu
