Core: Juniper Networks core solutions can be deployed in a whole range of environments. Transport and PeeringThere are fundamental requirements that service providers must consider when building an IP-based core to form the backbone for all of their revenue-generating services. These include system reliability, proven stability, scalability, predictability, and deterministic behavior under any load conditions. Juniper Networks platforms meet all of these requirements, along with superior IS-IS, OSPF, and BGP implementations, as well as per-flow load balancing, and fully featured MPLS. All of these features are available on any interface type with speeds that scale from N x 64k to 10 Gbps in dense and flexible port configurations. PeeringOne of the most important aspects of peering between service providers is to use industry standards to achieve vendor interoperability. For this reason, Juniper Networks platforms conform to industry standards from a variety of organizations, such as the IETF and ITU. The BGP implementation is highly scalable and robust to cope with hostile conditions and is highly flexible through policy and management controls. Peering also demands other features, such as low power consumption and a small form factor to reduce operational costs. These can be coupled with rate-limiting IP traffic for security and control and packet classification for CoS assignments.
