This does not include administration and time spent going through homework. Task 1 Picture recognition. Listen and select. Ss listen to four statements on each picure. Choose the best description. Task 2 Listen and respond. Listen to a statement or question. Choose the best response to the question or statement. Task 3 Listen and judge. Listen to five short conversations, and choose the best answer to each of the questions Task 4 and Task 5 Ss listen to two sample dialogues, fill in the missing information, and practice dialogues according to the situations with their partners. Section II Reading Reading A Ss listen and read a passage about Shanghai auto show in 2009. Reading B Ss read a passage about Detroit auto show. Then they judge some statements, summarize the passage, and translate some sentences from the passage into Chinese. Section III Grammar Modal Verbs Ss finish some multiple choice questions and translations. Section IV Comprehensive Practice (I) Applied writing Messages (II) Presentation Ss choose one of the two tasks, discuss with their partners and give a presentation. For a fast route through the unit, focus mainly on listening and speaking skills. Section I Listening and speaking Ss listen and talk about auto exhibition. Task 1: Ask the class to look at the five pictures and tell them predict what the pictures are about. Tell Ss they will hear four statements on each picture and they should choose which statement is the best or correct description about the picture. Play the audio and pause to ask the class for the correct answer. Script: Picture 1: A. The man is shooting. B. The man is quarreling. C. The man is introducing a new Hyundai car. D. The man is acting. Picture 2: A. There is a traffic accident. B. This is on a busy automobile exhibition.
