The plasma was created at the gas–liquid interface in pulsed mode. The key parameters have significant effect on the degradation of 17 b-Estradiol. The degradation process can be described by the first order kinetic model. A possible degradation mechanism of 17 b-Estradiol were proposed tentatively. a r t i c l e i n f o a b s t r a c t Article history: A typical endocrine disrupting chemical 17 b-Estradiol (E2) in aqueous solution was decomposed by using Received 17 December 2012 dielectric barrier discharge non-thermal plasma (DBD) created at the gas–liquid interface in pulsed mode.
