The ancient Jinli was one of the oldest and the most commercialized streets in the history of West Shu and had been well-known throughout the country in Qin, Han, and Three Kingdoms Periods. With Qin, Han, and Three-kingdom cultures as its soul, the social style of Ming and Qing dynasties as its appearance, the West Sichuan folkways and customs as its body, the new Jinli Promenade, supported by Wuhou Shrine, has condensed the essence out of the worldly life in Chengdu: teahouses, inns, restaurants, bars, theatrical stages, handicrafts, local snacks and specialties. 成都 MY FAVORITE CITY More than 2000 years ago, Li Bing designed this water control and irrigation dam and organized thousands of local people to complete the project. For many years the Mingjiang River flooded the Chengdu agricultural area and local farmers suffered a lot from the water disaster. Due to the success of the project, the dam has continued to make the most of the water works for many years. Baoping Kou, like a neck of a bottle, is used to bring water into the inner river from Minjiang. The Shangqing Palace was first built in the Jin dynasty and the extant temple was built during the reign of Tongzhi in Qing dynasty. There are stone inscriptions as the fifth famous mountain under the sun, the first peak in Mt. Qingcheng and so on in it. With its annually average temperature of 15 centigrade, Mt. Qingcheng belongs to humid subtropical monsoon climate. It is reputed as Dong Tian Fu Di (means wonderful mountain and happy place), the fairyland on earth. Mt. Qingcheng is located at the Dujiangyan scenery spot of Chengdu, Sichuan province. It is a famous mountain of Taoism. Surrounded by countless peaks and densely covered by ancient trees whose branches reaching the sky, the mountain was named Mt. Qingcheng (Green Town in Chinese).
