A stock stop may be a pin or small block against which an edge of the previously blanked opening is pushed after each stroke of the press. With sufficient clearance in the stock channel, the stock is momentarily lifted by its clinging to the punch, and is thus released from the stop. Figure 5-1 shows an adjustable type of solid block stop which can be moved along a support bar in increments lip to 25.4 mm to allow various stock lengths to be cut off. A starting stop is used to position stock as it is initially fed to a die, Mounted on the guide plate, the stop incorporates a latch which is pushed inward by the operator until its shoulder contacts the guide plate. The latch is held in to engage the edge of the incoming stock, and the first die operation is completed, then the latch is released. The upper shoe and lower shoe are guided by guide plate, and the first position is completed by the fixed stock stop pin 6 when feed-in starts and accurate position is completed by the guide pin 5, as shown in Figure 5-2. In order to ensure the accurate distance of first material, a starting stock stop pin is commonly used in a progressive die with a guide pin. After first material, it will be positioned by the fixed stock stop pin 6. In Figure 5-3, it is a guide plate blanking die. There is a clea
