Based on data from Chinas experience, this paper selects subjective social class as a measure of social comparison , uses the ordering cumulative logistic regression model which is appropriate to deal with many types of ordinal variables to analyze the role of social comparison to subjective well- being. The conclusion is that: the better position in the process of social comparison, the more likely the one have more happiness. This effect is statistically significant. However, it is not the case for those who have the best position. It is suggested that the role of social comparison on subjective well-being is complicated and diversified. Increasing the happiness should establish a diversified values system ,explore the inherent cognitive processes andpsychological mechanisms insocial comparison tandadvocate theright strategy forsocial comparison.
