When Louis was a young boy, he often played in his father’s shop. One day, Louis picked up one of his father’s tools. The tool was very sharp. Louise fell and the point of the tool entered his eye. He later became blind in both eyes. Louis discovered a new system in Paris. Who had created it? Why? The “night writing” system Louis discovered had been created by a French captain. The French captain had created the system because he wanted to be able to write in the dark and read what he had written in the dark. Describe how the new system worked. The captain used a system of circles and lines. The circles and lines were raised on the paper so that a person could feel them with his fingers.
