This module consists of one study day, it is a foundation to the subsequent four modules and is a pre-requisite for enrolment in modules 2-5. It offers participants opportunities to examine the history and development of evidence based health care and the processes of evidence based practice and takes participants through the first 4 main steps in the systematic review process. * Central to the JBI understanding of Evidence-Based Practice is that health professionals will use research evidence together with their context, client preference and their own clinical judgement - thus you will hear us talk more about evidence informed decision-making. You will see this little ‘pebble of knowledge’ at the back of every JBI Best Practice information sheet. We don’t tell people what to do, we give them the best available evidence with which to inform their practice. * The JBI believe that Evidence-based practice should be driven by the needs of global health. The Joanna Briggs Institute conceptualises evidence- based practice as clinical decision making that focuses on achieving global health through applying the best available evidence. The achievement of improved global health is seen as both the goal (or endpoint) and the “driving force” of evidence-based health care. Evidence-based health care is represented as a cyclical process that begins with clinical questions, concerns or interests of clinicians and then proceeds to address these questions by generating knowledge and evidence to effectively and appropria
