And it would also be a mistake to cut the deficit by gutting our investments in innovation and education, which are so critical for our future prosperity. These steps will help the economy this year. But it is also essential that we take stock and look to the future — to what kind of America we want to see emerge from this crisis and take shape for the generations of Americans to come.
