It is a folk show performed by one or two persons wrapped around with lion skin costume. Like the dragon lantern danc e, lion dance is usually performed during the Chinese New Year and other Chinese traditional, cultural and religious fest ivals. It may also be performed at important occasions such as business opening events, special celebrations or weddin g ceremonies, or may be used to entertain special guests by the Chinese communities. 3 Differences between lion dance and dargon dance An easy way to tell the differenc es is that a lion is normally oper ated by one or two dancers, whi le a dragon needs many people. Also, in a lion dance, the perfor mers faces are only seen occa sionally, since they are inside th e lion. In a dragon dance, the p erformers faces can be easily s een since the dragon is held on poles. 4 2.History of Lion Dance The Lion Dance is one of the most widespread folk dances in China.
